Reposting bc I think it didn’t work the first time. First pics are him now, second to last is him on the 5th, and last is what his tank looks like now. I’ve had my Neptune since last March 23rd. I just moved and redecorated his tank around Jan 3rd. Added 6 rasboras and 6 otocinclus at the same time. 10 gallon tank, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, about 5 nitrate. I use the api master test kit. Sponge filter and heater. Upgraded to the 10 gal from 5.5 around last June. Mostly live plants (Anubias), but one of my decorations has fake plants on it and I’m not sure if that might have ripped his fin. But it looks like it’s been cut almost. Doesn’t look quite like fin rot. I haven’t seen the rasboras or otos go after him, they’re getting along well. The rasboras ate his food like once but that was it, he ate some of the algae wafers and got bloated for a couple days two weeks ago but is better now after a few days of fasting. Please help, any ideas are welcome, I want to save my son 😖 (I do still have the 5.5 if I need to move anyone out of the 10, or if I need to set up a hospital tank)

  1. Could be nips. I don’t know much about raspboroas or otocinclus, but this is similar to how my betta looked when my neon tetras decided his tail was a snack. I rehomed them because I didn’t have a separate tank at the time.

I never saw my tetras rip his tail, but as soon as they were gone it started to heal. Sometimes it happens fast when we aren’t watching.

Maybe put him in the 5 gallon for a bit. If he starts to heal, you know it’s the other fish.
