Hey y’all! Relatively new member here, I recently moved from Northern MInnesota to an area inside that circle there and I have been having a real hard time finding Walleye anywhere.
There doesn’t seem to be any sort of resorts or guides, but there also aren’t any lakes the size of Mille Lacs, Red Lake, Winnie, Leech, etc. so that may be why. Thousands of smaller or mid sized lakes, or lake chains, but everyone seems to be targeting bluegills, crappie, and maybe pike on tipups.
I have a permanent fish house I’d like to find a nice lake with a walleye reputation but most of the DNR lake maps indicate walleye are “present,” or “scarce,” if at all.
Now I’m not trying to ask for your secret spots or even for someone to fish with. I’m also sober now and I don’t do bars at all anymore, so consider this post like I’m coming up to you on a barstool or at a bait shop and starting up the old, “they bitin? Where at and whatcha using??”
The one lake that stands out near me is Red Cedar Lake, and/or down the channel into Hemlock lake. There’s also Lake Montanis in Rice Lake, and Bear Lake near Haugen. Bear Lake doesn’t seem to have a safe/plowed access at the moment (one goes right down someone’s driveway and hasn’t been used, and the main boat launch has been plowed shut completely).
Any advice and input is appreciated!

Wisconsinites are notoriously tight lipped with spots, good luck getting it out of them as a stranger on the internet.
I’ve had my best luck finding walleye water by looking at the dnr lake survey reports and identifying lakes with above average densities. Many walleye lakes are artificially stocked too and they make that data available online.
Hey im up in superior and happy to help possibly get you on some fish, PM me.
I have had decent walleye success on the Chetek chain and Long Lake outside of New Auburn. Both have pretty tight walleye bite windows though around sunrise and sunset. Long Lake takes some learning, but there are good fish in there. Chetek, find the breaks and ledges.
I haven’t targeted walleye outside of those two lakes though so I don’t have a very big sample size.
The Chetek Lake chain is pretty good for walleye.
