Woke up to find my boy passed away. He had been suffering from a bacterial issue for around a week. Had some fungus on his find and his bright red colour was muted.
I got back from a 3 day trip away and found him a little worse for wear. He wasn't as active as he usually was and was resting on the bottom of the tank instead of floating in the top corner where he would always watch me.
I overdosed EsHa 2000 on around day 3 I would guess of his getting infected.
Can't help but feel if I noticed this a few days before he would still be here? Do you think this is true or am I being too hard on myself. Didn't think it would hit me this hard but im devastated.

Hi, sorry to hear about this. They are glorious creatures and such massive personalities. It hits hard.
Do you have a liquid test kit to check the water parameters? This is a good thing to keep in and test the water if a fish ever doesn’t seem right. Quite often there are clues in the water tests.
I can’t answer if you could have saved him, but it’s clear he was loved.
unlikely, the long finned bettas are so delicate nowadays. i’ve been sticking to plakat bettas and they are so much healthier
How big is the tank? He looks bloated also. What was the feeding schedule?
