This was her just two days ago.. Yesterday she started to get more passive and would not show any interest in food. I only had her for 2 weeks, but I got very attached to her. She had cycled 8 gallon tank with live plants, sand, heater and filter, parameters were clear even today… Suddenly she started to sink at the bottom of the tank and would lay on the bottom, if I helped her up gently she again fell down at the bottom. Then she just stopped breathing. I cried for an hour.. She meant a lot to me. May she rest in eternal peace and happiness🤍 I suspect she may have had some deformities as she would basically spit out every food I offered her (even how small or tasty), her mouth was looking strange. However I cannot do, but think if I could have done something to save her, that I did something wrong.

Has something like this happened to some of you?
if you bought it locally, it was very possible it died due to bad genetics and/or shock. please buy from established breeders, as it is more ethical than those animal torturers who keep and sell them in 3 oz cups. the bettas sources from breeders will not only be prettier than most you’ll find at stores, but they will also live way longer under good conditions. the only downside i see is a higher cost to acquire said betta, but that’s hardly why we keep tanks is it?
I’ve had like 2 bettas die spontaneously out of nowhere one of which i believe i know the cause however the other one had 0 changes and lived in a very suitable tank for a couple months then randomly passed away one morning. If you didn’t change anything and the tank is cycled don’t stress it it’s most likely not your fault.
Aw, she was beautiful girl, I’m sorry for your loss ❤️
