I’m going down to Guntersville next month and I’m putting together a combo for skipping docks / laydowns.
Would you guys recommend the DC reel or the Tatula with the SV tech?

Tatula SV by a mile

They’re both gonna take some practice but I’d say probably the dc because of the brake system but either one of those would do a great job.

SV. T-Wings is made for this.

Dc breaking is good for bomb casting heavy lures but any sort of disturbance in accelleration they dont really do well with . I would never skip with a dc reel.

Having used both, I agree with the SV crowd.
In my experience, the benefits of the SV system work just as well in the low speed, short distance game whereas the DC system shines more in higher RPM, longer casting situations. In fact on those really close quarters flips and pitches, I feel like the DC system doesn’t even really activate.
So for example, on a rod where I’m using it mostly for spinner baits, chatter baits, or crankbaits, I’m reaching for a DC over an SV.
But for short casts, low speed, etc. definitely SV.
