Dude just made a mistake. He brought the rod up too high. It changes the stress of point of the rod from a slight curve to a sharp angle.

I’m gonna assume in this case, carp almost without a doubt. But the issue lies in where he’s holding the rod, and the angle. He has way too much torque, going against a pretty strong fish. You’re supposed to give with the fish a little bit as they pull when doing this.

Location would be helpful. Seemingly Asia, generally speaking and likely a large catfish, carp or freshwater ray. Something that’s gonna stick to the bottom

Speaking from personal experience, the only time I have had a rod shatter like that was when it got hit in a truck door.
So..
Probably a f150 or Silverado considering the damage.
