My four year old just picked this guy out at the pet store. I’ve had goldfish for years but this is my first Betta.

My son picked him because “he looked like he was sad & needed a good home”. I think it may be a juvenile but I don’t know anything about them.

Just wondering if I need to worry about the shredded find or just see how he goes now he has a 20L tank to himself?

If it helps, the tank has been cycling for a few weeks with just the plants in it & I added bio starter about a week or so ago, also I tested all the levels before putting him in.

cute! he will heal his shredded fins if your water parameters are good. try a black water tank, like with almond leaves

  2. Rose tail bettas have a tendency to get their fins ruined when their conditions are poor. Give him time and a well balanced tank and he’ll recover and flourish in no time. My veiltail hand a tendency to snag his fins on the skull in his tank so make sure there aren’t any potential sharp objects in the tank or else it could make the fins worse!
