caught a 28 yesterday. wondered how rare they are? this is my first winter and only got halfway through it and got a 28.
in nc we got 1000+ citations of 24 and bigger trout. if 28 are rare they should be i dunno 10-50? are we talking 100 of them being 28? being generous with people not reporting lets put it at 200.
are they really that rare on the east coast? were only pulling out 200 or so 28 inch trout a year?
nc sucks with fishery numbers so i dont trust them.

Not sure but that’s a beauty. Lemon and butter my freind
Im always getting 14″-20″ spotted trout, never caught anything bigger. 28″ would be a monster.
I know of spots it’s not that uncommon. Can catch a few over 25 each trip if the weather is right. Wish I still lived in NC and could go more than a few times a year.
Also the gators always go back unharmed.
Over 30 is considered very rare with the captains I know…gator territory.
Most fish aren’t reported so who knows
They were common once, so were doormat flounder.
