Hello everyone! I have a half moon male betta that’s about 6 months old named Lexapro. I’ve been upgrading and trying new things with his tank, so I recently decided to add shrimp. When I added them, he couldn’t care less about them being in his space. I even caught one tap dancing on his head once. Well, one day Lex decided that he had enough of the shrimp and started chasing them, but not eating. He would freak them out for a bit and then go back swimming around. I thought it was funny for a bit before I realized something: The only shrimps he was chasing were the black ones. I thought I was going crazy at first until he kept it up. Every other color was safe except the black shrimps. I did not raise him like this. Does anyone how to educate him?

Could be the way they see colour? Not sure what their visual colour spectrum is like now I’ve said that.

So fish are not racist…Betta are visual hunters, i mean for me, likely reason why Lexapro is only targetting the goths might they standout more?

Territorial boredom? When this happen they chase without killing…its like harass for fun, lets be real, if a betta wanted them gone, they will already be gone. Silver lining for this one is that a Betta will.be obsess for weeks but after they are satisfied, they will stop.
Ssdly we cant do scolding to a fish, no timeouts, no diversity training seminar but what you can do is add some plants amd hiding spots for the goth shrimps to escape big bad Lexapro?
My betta only killed red snails. She was cool with the brown ones 😎
Mine only ate blue shrimp, he was blue. Guess he saw competition

Actually, since he is so young maybe a kindergarten video about differences making us special. He’s just a baby after all.

My betta, Máni, is also racist. Hates those red ones. All others are fine. Red shrimp must die.
