For context I keep mine in a 29 tall with a small colony of endlers. I realized a year after I got this fish that I did research for the wrong fish, but online I hear people say 25 is the minimum/30 minimum, I also see people say you shouldn’t keep a 3 spot gourami in anything smaller than a 40 gallon. Is a 29 gallon ok?

Depend on how is tank setup is it is tall, long I have kept them in 30 cube with sponge filter with corys, and bamboo shrimp I had leaf litter and little bit tannin from drift wood which I like to keep, the temps warm 24C and ph of 5.6. this is water parameters feeding I have some live food cultures like blood worms and such also some flakes of shrimp.
I would say a 29 is OK but not ideal. Personally I’d prefer for them to be in a 40 but they shouldn’t suffer. Just make sure to put in lots of things for them to investigate.
