This is day 3 with my new betta in my first ever tank. He was pure white on day 1 and now this red spot on his fin has shown up so I just want to make sure it’s nothing bad! I know they can change colors but i’m not sure if that’s what this is.

    • ⁠How long have you had the tank? How long have you had your fish?: Tank for 5 weeks, fish for 3 days

    • ⁠How often are water changes? How much do you take out per change? What is your process?: Only done one water change right before getting the fish so far and it was 25%. I plan to do weekly.

    • ⁠Any tankmates? If so, please list with how many of each: 1 Nerite snail

    • ⁠What do you feed and how much: Fluval bug bites and blood worms so far and once a day. Only 3-4 at a time.

    • ⁠Decorations and plants in the tank: All live plants, some anubias, java fern, amazon sword, amazon frogbit, bacopa, and rotala. Dragonstone and driftwood too.

    Forgot to say I use the API master test kit for testing and for water changes i just use the tubing that came with my gravel vacuum because the attachment is way too big

    i’m afraid that red spots on white bettas mean fin rot. i always hear people say they use seachem kanaplex to treat that. i don’t have that in the netherlands, so i use manaus trichosal.
