Anyone see the new Sitka fishing waders? They’ve had a hunting line of waders for a few years now, so I’m not surprised they’re trying to enter the fly fishing community.

Those boots actually look pretty nice for the price

I dont buy waders that are less than $1500. For me its about conspicuous consumption and the fishing is an afterthought.

Sitka: a brand known for camo gear makes waders that aren’t camo and cost $1000. I’ll stick to my reddingtons. 4 seasons $350. I’m already past the mark.

I’m sure they are nice. The ones on the left look almost indistinguishable from the Patagonia expeditions

Around me Sitka goes on sale for half price regularly. Simms and Patagonia fly gear doesn’t.

Imagine buying these when Patagoina waders have free repairs for life.

So I wear a decent amount of Sitka for hunting. Their hunting waders are awesome, and so far I have not regretted the price.
They are running a deal where if you donate a piece of lightly used hunting clothes they will give you $100 off any item $300 or more. That applies for every piece you donate.
As a result I checked out their fishing gear yesterday to see what was up. Like all of their stuff it’s clearly high end and I really liked the boots. I just don’t fish enough to get my moneys worth on it. I can’t speak for the waders, but the waterproof system ($$$$) is really nice, but you could probably get just as nice from somewhere else.
What I will say about Sitka is that they are INCREDIBLY generous in their donations to outdoor non-profits. Ducks unlimited, Backcountry Hunter and Anglers, etc. can pretty much walk into a store and get some swag for a raffle or giveaway. And they always are willing to host events. I get that they are expensive and it’s easy to make fun, but at least they are using some of that money for good.

Holy fuck. $1000 for waders…and it’s not Patagucci (who tbf have earned a great reputation) or Orvis….
Bold strategy

Holy smokes, my brand new waders and wading boots cost 50$ combined

I’ll stick with Orvis Pros, save a bunch of money, and be very confident with the quality and warranty of the waders

The price is… well, it’s up there.
I happened to get served up a short video about these yesterday (damn you, algo).
4 layers of gore tex on the lower, plus a sleeve for some (sold separetely ofc) knee pads. Great pockets up top, etc.
Honestly, they looked pretty good. They’re just completely untested and brand new in this market, so that price is gonna be tough to swallow.
I’m curious ab the warranty… if they want to compete w Patagonia, they better have a similar one.
Anyways, they look tough, they look cool, they seem to have some neat features… but is that enough to steal some customers from other manufacturers?

At that price I’ll exit the chat.

Goretex on a pair of waders is wild work to me. How the fuck is it going to breathe if it’s literally submerged in water?

As someone who has Sitka full zip hunting waders, IMO their duck hunting waders are absolutely top of the line…..however there’s such a strong market for high end fishing waders I’m wondering how much market share they’ll take up, especially at this price.

Yeesh what a rip off

At that price they better be bramble and barbed wire proof with heated feet. I’ll stick with 4 year old Orvis and gorilla tape waders.
