My plakat is very energetic and mostly left my snails alone until recently when he had eaten all of the detritus worms from cycling the tank. He is now nipping at my bladder snail and hunting my malaysian trumpets and i am wonderin if he is hungry, they are too big to eat but he has torn one of my bladders eye stalks off. When I first got him almost a month ago I fed him 6 pellets twice a day (not good I know) thinking 2-3 was no where near enough after 2 days he looked very bloated then I fatsed him for 24hrs and have been feeding him 3 pellets twice a day since without ever seeing bloating.
What I want to know is how many 1mm floating pellets do you feed your plakat? Could I try 4 pellets twice a day and see how he goes? I know fish always look hungry but he used to look satisfied after his pellets..

That could lead to over-feeding. Plakats in general are more energetic since they have less fins to carry around, so it’s a natural trait.
I dont feed my bettas the same amount. I look at their body shape and feed based on that. Some need more food, some need less. Pay attention to their condition and feed accordingly. You can start with 4-5 pellets.
