Hey guys I'm back. I have 2 5gal tanks and pretty heavily planted as well, each with 1 male betta. They get along pretty nicely with their own mystery snail I added in each, but I'm worried about the snails waste. I tested ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and ph levels with API kit and everything was spectacular on that end. Do I need to upgrade with the snail OR just take them out and keep the snails in a diff tank all together? I read too much about this stuff and convince myself I'm a terrible fish mom LOL.

Mystery snails are very active, very big and generate a lot of waste. Generally recommended 1 X mystery snail in minimum of 10g. A mystery snail plus a betta in 5g is pushing the bioload and quality of life for both creatures to e extreme meaning water will foul faster, the filtration will be strained and increased likelihood of unstable parameters or cycle crashing.

I would put the snails in their own separate tank or upgrade both betta setups.

  2. Id say either upgrade to a 10gal as the snails produce a lot of waste or get something smaller like a Netrite
