I’m deciding between two fishing kayaks and could use some advice. This will be my first time fishing from a kayak, but I want to choose one that I can grow into and use long-term. Both options are within my budget, and both are 10 ft.
One option is a Lifetime kayak that’s about $100 more than the other. It comes with a paddle and includes a seat back, seat pad, front and rear shock cords, a 6-inch storage hatch in the cockpit, a paddle keeper, a cup holder, and front and rear T-handles.
The other option is a Pelican kayak from Facebook Marketplace. The seller says it was only used a few times, but it seems very basic compared to the Lifetime and doesn’t include any extra features.
I’m not very experienced with fishing kayaks, so I’d really appreciate opinions on whether the extra $100 for the Lifetime is worth it, or if the simpler Pelican would still be a solid starting option.
