This is my Betta George Washingfin. His water temperature is set to 78* degrees and his water parameters are all coming up in safe ranges. I’m working to make sure they all stay in those ranges. This is my first Betta and I’m very new to the fish hobby. I just want to make sure he looks okay and if there are any problems he might be having that I don’t see. Any advice or tips would be appreciated thank you in advance.

Welcome to the Hobby! George Washingfin is a beautiful boy and appears healthy.
Few questions: did you cycle your tank?
Is there a lid on his tank? If so, you can fill it up more and give him more swimming space.
Fin-ally, is that a pathos cutting or an anubia in the bottom right? If pathos, the leaves can’t be underwater. If not, all good!

Second the comment with filling the tank up, more water is easier to keep levels of toxins safe! If there is a lid, it’s good to keep the tank full.

Do you have a test kit? It’s going to be super important to monitor levels of ammonia, nitrite and nitrate to keep him healthy.

You may need to do daily water changes until good bacteria grows in that processes fish waste if the nitrogen cycle has not been established. Doing this whilst a fish is already in the tank is possible, but you’ll need to be super on top of testing and these water changes for a few weeks -; always use a dechlorinator!

Here’s a link that explains nitrogen cycling in an accessible way:

    Welcome to the hobby 🙂
