Plenty of people use rec boats for fishing but you might want to make the yak unsinkable. If you capsize they are difficult to remount and can fill with water, but you can purchase inflatable float bags for the bow and stern.
I put them in my Necky Dolphin 14 and wear a PFD but it’s nice to know that my yak is unsinkable.

I used a pelican for ten years, even on the salt! Here’s my wife and her first salmon ever in a kayak just like yours!
I still rock the 10’ cheapo, they’re light and wayyyyyyy easier to transport.
It’s crazy to me people spend $2k on their first kayak.

A couple recommendations to start:
Rod holders, get a pair for behind the seat area. Easy to install and cheap on Amazon.
Not a lot of room for storage, so you may just need a Plano box and try to fit your tackle and tools.
Eventually you’ll want an anchor trolley.
If you find that you love kayak fishing and want to go to the next level, look for a used sit-on-top model which makes for a much easier experience.
And pour me a beer from that keg!
