2.) don’t pull up when the bass comes up cause they can toss the hook easier, if I had angled the rod down I might’ve been able to keep it from tossing the bait

My condolences. I recently lost the biggest rainbow Ive ever hooked due to user error. It just happens sometimes. Ive been fishing most of my life, over 30 years, and it I still make mistakes. It’s just the nature of the game.
