I got my beta fish 3 days ago and ever since putting him in the tank, he just sank right to the bottom and sits on the gravel. I’ve seen him swim up a couple times to the surface, but majority of the time he sits on the surface of the gravel like a crab or something. I’ve never seen him just swimming around or suspended in the water like he should be???
I thought he was gonna die but it’s been 3 days and he’s still going strong chilling on the floor. I’m convinced he’s like messed up from petco or just scared what is going on help me help my son pls ty

Hello, can you please answer to the automod questions so we know the water parameters?
Is the tank cycled? What’s the temperature? Is he eating ? Is he breathing heavily and fast? Do you have a filter? And if yes, is the flow strong or weak?
Please also add immediately some resting spots near the surface so he can breathe better.
Test your water first: ammonia and nitrite must be zero. Use liquid test kit and not strips. Make sure temperature is 77–80 with a heater. Reduce current if strong. Observe appetite and breathing.
If you don’t know wha a tank cycled means, please tell us and we will give you the information, but you need to act fast because he could die.
We can’t help you unless you accurately answer the mods questions. Otherwise we have no idea what’s going on.
