Repost since my last one got taken down for promoting stealing but I wasn’t literally going to “kidnap” a fish I was referring to having his owner give him up to me to save his life.
Long story short, my AP bio class had a bunch of betta fish for an experiment and at the end of the lab I got a female at the end of the lab and the secretary of the counseling office got the male betta that my lab group was assigned to. We had named him Peter Parker and marveled (haha get it, marveled) at how beautiful and excitable he was.
Anyway this secretary that owns him now keeps him in one of those critter carrier containers with marbles on the bottom and the pineapple of death. I’m sick of her and I’m sick of seeing his fins decay and his colors fade.
I want to give him a better life, do I pester her until she folds and gives him up or do I just leave it and let him go like all other 5 bettas she’s been through.
She keeps all of these bettas the same way year after year because they’re never live longer than the school year. Insisting “he’s living his best life” every single time.
So what do I do? Battle to convince her? Or leave it and have to watch the cycle continue?
Saving bettas from this situation is literally my capstone project right now so this is all bothering me greatly.

Guys before this post gets removed as well, I have 2 tanks at home, 0 nitrates 0 ammonia, 7.5 pH, one is 20g long because it’s a community tank with the female betta I mentioned and the other one is a 5g shallow and empty right now. Yes heater, yes filter on both and the light I have covers both of them. I know some people commented on my first post, I’m sorry it got removed I should’ve worded the post differently
Im sure she’ll just give him up if you ask. Obviously she’s not too serious about the fish considering it’s current living conditions.
