.21mm broad PEX8 braid 34lb/15.3kg test

When I ran it it broke at just over 19lb. The highest I got it was 10kg/22lb.

Setup:

– 2 heavy 50lb snap swivel

– palmar knot onto each

– connect one swivel to the scale, the other to a spanner

– pull

As can be seen from the video (slowed down at the end (apologies for the quality it gets hard to see)) it snaps at just over 19lb here.

I checked each time, the line snaps somewhere along itself, not at the knots etc.

Reason for testing:

I found the same line that’s 1.5y old I forgot I had. Wanted to compare. This old line is on the same spool it came from the shop on. Funnily enough the older line performed slightly better. I tested this on 10lb mono and it broke at 11lb. I also tested the scale with known weight and it’s accurate.

I’m so sorry, I can’t take you seriously with Homer looking at me like that 🤣😭

Either that or using something that weighs your desired weight then tying and lifting that. 34lb is a weird one that’d be more difficult to do, but something nice and round like 10,15,20,25, etc… it wouldn’t be difficult at all to find a weight for testing.

Edited to add that I have fished 25 years and have never done this. What’s the point lol? You’re fighting fish not weights.
