I got a new betta a couple of weeks ago. He generally seems pretty happy, his personality is starting to show and his fins are growing bigger. He already recognizes me and will hang out near the front of the tank when I’m nearby and eat out of my hands. However, I notice him glass surfing in the corners of his tank sometimes and it worries me… I know it’s normal for new fish to glass surf as they get used to their environment, but I’m still pretty new to fishkeeping and I’m at the stage where every little thing worries me. I don’t know if it’s him normally patrolling his territory or stress/boredom related.
I have my other betta (female) in a 20g with a school of corydoras and some ramshorns. She’s very interactive with her environment and tankmates, but I’ve had her for about 2 months now, so maybe it’s just a matter of her being more comfortable with her environment. I dunno… it’s so hard to tell if you’re doing right by your fish when their emotions aren’t as obvious as other kinds of pets. 😭

This guy has a paradise
My boyfriend’s mom gifted me some hoops that suction to the tank wall for Christmas! I have a Nemo koi who kept glass surfing in one spot and would do it for literal hours until I put the hoop in his tank in the spot he’d do it in, I haven’t caught him doing it since then
