Lately several pet stores have had multiple outbreak of FW ich. There is an aquarium at work that crashed twice due to this. I got it cleared out and restocked just with fish from my own tanks at home I knew to not have issues.

But now I have this little gourami I impulse bought. The girl said at the store thy had not had issues. I had a ten gallon cycled for him to chill in solo.

I have in all honesty never used qt for freshwater in almost 30 years of fish keeping and never had ich. But I’m more aversive to restarting this tank again. So if I don’t see ich in three weeks am I fairly confident it’s fine?

I could increase temp an salt but since this is typically a shrimp breeding tank and will likely return to that I’m not wanting to proactively treat.

  1. Just be prepared for Gourami disease. Damn near every one I’ve had has gotten it. That’s why I’m done keeping them
