I started fly fishing last fall and have been stumbling through it all winter. I went to my usual winter spot yesterday. Rivers were back in shape after the last storm and a bigger one is on the way.

Once the blue winged olives started to show up, the fish got active. In recent trips where little winter stoneflies are hatching, dry flies really get a lot of attention. Today, I trailed simple BWO soft hackles off a sparkle dun. I only had one fish go for the dry, but had my best day since I started fly fishing with the trailing soft hackles.
