Drilling 5” vs 7” Holes Through the Ice – 130mm (5.1”) & 180mm (7”) Auger Bits – What’s Your Preference ?
130mm = ~5.1 inches
180mm = ~7.1 inches
Both are clockwise drill bits with fresh blades.
The 5” class (130mm) seems ideal for:
Panfish
Perch
Smaller walleye
Lighter, more mobile setups
Drilling a ton of holes without gassing yourself
The 7” class (180mm) feels like the sweet spot if you’re targeting:
Bigger walleye
Pike
Lake trout
I do have these listed on eBay right now.
