Hey! I am still new to this whole betta owning thing. Just seeing if this is fin rot? All his water parameters seem fine to me so I am not sure what is causing it if it is.

Temp: 80F

PH: 7.8

Ammonia: 0ppm

Nitrite: 0ppm

Nitrate: 5ppm

  1. Very active boy, not showing any signs of being lethargic. He loves exploring inside different caves and then resting on his hammocks.

    Ive had him for about 2 weeks and the tank for a month

    As far as tankmates there is 1 snail

    He gets 2 pellets day and night, and occasionally i see him nibbling on the algae pellets for the snail

    Live plants and 1 artificial silk in the tank, as well as a piece of artificial drift wood (looking to replace with real drift wood soon)

    I’m colorblind and the photos a bit hard but look for coloring on the very ends

    Red or black on a blue fish = fin rot

    Translucent = new growth

    Coloring not on tip = fish is maturing

    Oh wow that is a very healthy tail! All that white or clear at the end is new growth! I’m assuming he nipped it before but it’s grown back lovely. You’re doing a great job try to keep up that growth.

    Is your fishy relatively new to you? I just took in one from a pet store that was in rough shape. All around the edges of his fins it’s slowly healing and growing back and looks similar to this.
