With spring on its way, northeast anglers should prepare to identify the difference between a native bowfin vs invasive northern snakehead.
ZacBalZac on February 17, 2026 12:23 am I use the 3/0 Gamakatsu finesse wide gap hooks and I think they’re perfect. Pinned a 7 lber on one , no problem.
vanillathrilla04 on February 17, 2026 12:26 am I use the 1/0 eagle claw wacky hooks from Walmart and never have trouble keeping them pinned on a medium light rod
chimpmunk_rugs on February 17, 2026 1:00 am Vmc neko hook, and the weedless version. You want something with a longer shank like you have pictured, much better hookup ratio.
Axolotis on February 17, 2026 1:18 am Looks good. I like the size 1 VMC wacky hook. It’s just what I know.
DontCallMeBenji on February 17, 2026 1:23 am I’ve caught a lot of fish on 1/0 EWG hooks, and rarely lose them. I prefer Gamakatsu, but I’m sure another brand is fine.
Boring-Dance-1897 on February 17, 2026 5:03 am Go one size larger than you might initially think. I missed a lot of strikes on the wacky until I started using a bigger hook
Appropriate-Sun834 on February 17, 2026 7:09 am 5/0 Jk, the smaller the better. I use 2/0. 5/0 on anything is fucking overkill, no need to fuck the fish up that bad
