Hey y’all!
I noticed his eyes looks a bit different than my other betta fish. (I’m not sure if the gender or even the genetics can affect the betta’s eyes. But I do know the stress and water quality can 100% affect his eyes.)
So, that raises a couple of questions, does he have Popeye or starting to develop Popeye? I’m really hoping he is okay!
He is moving around and eating. There are live plants (a couple different species and I’m planning to add an Amazon sword plants pretty soon.) He seems to be pretty curious and does occasionally flare at the snails. (There is one repetitive activity he does seem to like to do is swim around the filter intake and swim against the filter current, filter is on the lowest settings and has a baffle attached. I was personally waiting to see if that changes. He’s been doing that ever since he’s been added to the tank. Which is about 3 ish months? Wowie! Didn’t realize I had him that long? But I did notice he’s starting to explore the tank a bit more now in the last couple of weeks? The tank itself is much older tho, if I remember correctly, it’s about 6 months old.)
I am testing the waters rn. (With the master kit.) I do have several medications if that’s the case, which I can list them. (Kanaplex, Stress Coat + API, and Seachem ParaGuard.) I do have the hospital 2.5 gal tank just in case if it is that bad. (I never treated Popeye before so not sure which one would work the best!) So, I’m just a bit concerned and would like a second opinion on his eyes!

Looks like a healthy normal beady eyed betta! If I find an example of one of mine in my camera roll I’ll come back to reassure you!
unless his eyes used to look significantly different and this is a new development, he looks okay to me. They’re symmetrical, not cloudy or white, and his behavior looks and sounds normal. betta eyes are supposed to protrude a little bit, I wouldn’t do anything about it personally

Okay! At the time, I just tested the water parameters:
Ammonia: 0 ppm
Nitrite: 0 ppm
Nitrate: 0 ppm
I’m surprised nitrate is zero, considering I had this tank for about 6 months? I’m hoping my plants in there are a hungry things! It has a filter system and it’s full of brown gunk, which I don’t touch or remove. (I’m questioning my fish knowledge of 7 months??? 😅) There are snails in there too.
