Can I keep them or will the reproduce like crazy? Will they ruin my ecosystem? Should I just get an assassin snail? I’m planning on adding angel fish soon help would be appreciated

Ramshorns, yes they will over populate if you over feed, I just cull as I need to. Humanly of course. Currently culling bladders as I don’t want them but I enjoy ramshorns. I potentially have a new blue baby!

We got a few hitchhikers, ramshorns grew and had babies, moved the mom and dad to big tank but kept babies in little tank. Avoided overfeeding and they are mostly gone at this point but have the big guys helping in big tank. More babies controlled by plecos and dojo loach. Kinda would like a few more, actually

Im just going to say this, if you want the snail, then keep the snail. If you don’t want the snail, get rid of him now. In my eyes, it’s as simple as that. With just a single one, you can offer it to a local fish store, or to someone you know with a tank pretty easily.

I had a ramshorn baby appear about 3 months ago (I think from an egg carried over somewhere in the substrate I didn’t fully remove of the used tank I purchased)

I have been very diligent about feeding my fish exactly what they can hoover up in a very short period, so my solitary snail has exclusively been surviving on biofilm.

He did enjoy the random cucumber slice I added a bit ago though. That was a good day for him!

But because he’s not getting anything crazy food wise, he hasn’t laid eggs, despite being well past egg laying size.
