saw these guys at my local pet shop and i thought they were super cool. it actually took me a while to find out what they were, but once i did some research i saw that 60L (13 ish gallons) is like the bare minimum for them.

i’ve just bought a second hand 60L tank for £30 (how could i not). i’m planning on making a heavily planted tank and i was wondering if that would counteract some of the downsides of having a smaller tank for them since they’ll have loads of hiding places and ‘enrichment’. i’m probably going to have a smaller school of them as well, around 6-10.

if not i’ll probably make it a betta tank instead. i don’t want to be selfish and chuck the tetras in a tank that isn’t suitable, just wondering if i can do anything to make the tank more suitable for them, if not then i’ll just have to wait to get a larger tank later down the line.

I wouldn’t keep them in a school any smaller than 6. Ideally they should be 10-12.

6 in that size would mean nothing else except maybe some ottos. I’d probably not do it though and go for a 20g tank and get 10 of them.
