This frame is super cool, about 7g heavier than the Avail and seemingly infinitely more durable. The original 2500C frame was pretty weak, and the Avail frame, while lighter, seems to be susceptible to the frame going out of alignment as well. Simon Shimomura's frame addresses the pain points of the OEM frame, but in the end I went with the AMO for peace of mind. It also came in $30 cheaper than Simon's, but gives the reel a more modern look instead of retaining the classic looks as Simon's frame. Can't wait to fish it once the ice clears up.
