Ocean Beach pier is a pretty bad place to do it with all the people and surfers around. Finding structure is key. Walk the beach at low low tide and find holes and remember how to find them as the tide is higher. Look for rip tides. Full sinking line and tungsten core and sand crab imitations are the way to get into barred surf perch, corvina, yellow croaker and shovel nosed guitarfish.

  2. Its already not super easy to catch predatory fish like halibut from shore. You really have to make sure to fish areas that are holding and you will get hit.

  3. 10wt, thats going to kill you slowly. Do you have heavy winds there? Or you using monster flies?
I use a 7wt with floating line normally or a intermediate line if I need to get it down here in the UK, targeting sea bass with a baiting pattern fly.
Don’t give up bud, saltwater fly fishing is awesome 😁
