Short time lurker, first time poster here.
I pulled the trigger and bought an Anself 9' Fly Fishing Rod and Reel Combo with Carry Bag 20 Flies Complete Starter Package Fly Fishing Kit from the Walmart.com and a dozen Crazy Charlies from Baxter with intent attempt to catch Bonefish at the flats off Keehi Boat Harbor in Honolulu.
I've fly fished a few times with a buddy in Washington; I absolutely loved it, and have been wanting to get into fishing for quite some time. Recently finished chemotherapy, and decided "What's a little more debt?"
The rod and reel kit isn't the best at $65, but it'll get me out there and practicing my casting. I should get out there in the next few weeks!
Any tips for attempting to catch saltwater bonefish (Oʻio) would be appreciated as I'm pretty much new to the diversion.

Don’t get too discouraged. That’s one of the most difficult places in the world to catch bonefish. Lead the fish by 10 feet or more. Very short slow strips as they get close to it. Smaller sparse flies. Hiring a guide once could increase your learning curve dramatically.
