Just got this beautiful betta boy here and I’m curious how much I should be feeding him? It says on the container feed 2-3 pellets 2x per day but research shows you should only feed them as much as the size of their eye, and the pellets are fairly chunky.
**Bonus points if you can give me a really cute name for him**

I’d feed em two of those a day, yeah! I have seen some other betta fish on here struggle to eat it so I’d try it out first though.
You should name him jasper. It counts as a human name while also being related to orange color.
That bottle is right, around 5-6 of them a day, with one skip day during the week
I’ve read 2-4 pellets 2x/day, 6 days a week with 1 fasting day
Your pellets do look a little on the larger side lol so maybe cut back to 1-2 pellets 2x/day?
First name that came to mind was Lunar cause he kind of reminds me of the moon but I also like the names Peaches or Sherbet!
Sushi!
I’ve read that contrary to conventional wisdom, underfeeding is much worse than overfeeding (to a point). Id just follow the directions and see how he reacts tbh, if he doesn’t consume 2 pellets within a minute or two, remove the second and feed 1 pellet twice a day.
Sunburst
You can crush the bits if too large. Twice daily 2-3 dots
Is he in a free swim tank? How big is the aquarium.
Quick tip: pellets should be small enough to fit in their mouth, and soaked in water so they don’t expand in their stomach
As for feeding, a fish’s stomach is only about the size of their eye and they can go for a long time without eating, so underfeeding isn’t as much of a concern as overfeeding — a couple pellets once or twice a day is plenty, and ideally fasting once a week (like on the day you do tank maintenance) to give them time to clear out their system
