My bettas eye went cloudy on Sunday and his face started turning red soon after. He’s been inactive with clamped fins and mostly at the bottom of the tank but he does come out to eat. Hes been occasionally rubbing his eye on the plants and mildly thrashing😣
I test my tank weekly but I’ve been testing my tank everyday since this happened and parameters have been good. (10 gallons, 5.0ppm nitrate, 0 nitrite 0 ammonia). I do water changes weekly and his only tank mate is my mystery snail. (Last picture is their tank)
I did a full treatment of api general cure and I’ve been treating kanaplex as directed. His eye has somewhat improved but I cannot figure out what’s causing this to happen to my poor boy. Does anyone have suggestions? Do I keep treating with kanaplex and do another round of general cure or should I treat him with something else? (First picture from Sunday, next pictures from today) it’s progressed quickly and I’m so worried about him.

Potential popeye, or other mild bacterial infection. Perform 50% water change, Treat with kanaplex for 3 days, then perform another water change. Repeat until looking better. If it doesn’t look like he improves after kanaplex you try using “concentrated aquarium salt baths” in a hospital tank, or “methylene blue dips/baths”. I quoted it so you know what to look up because you will have to do research on proper amounts. Do all of this except the kanaplex in a separate tank or bucket because they can crash your cycle or kill your plants. Kanaplex can also prevent new bacteria from establishing but if you already have them it shouldn’t be an issue. I hope he gets well soon, good luck OP!

Popeye (bacterial, general itchy)or possibly flukes (parasite).
