I load up my own lines at home and store them in original boxes when not in use. yeah its Super nerdy. These new line spools are terrible. environmental whatevahs. Bass pro down the street is still filling the landfill 30x. If i am paying marquis prices, give me a decent spool at least

The old ones were such a waste of plastic. These are great.
They use the paper spools at bass pro for a couple years now too. Their line is made by rio. You arnt supposed to spool directly from the paper you fold it open and pop it only a reusable plastic spool loader
To quote Morgan Freeman in the great film *Robin Hood Prince of Thieves*:
You whine like a mule.

I actually like it. One thing I despise is creating environmental laws and taxes that only cause the consumer money and don’t help the environment one bit. (I live in Canada. These policies have not worked and only hurt the little guy)
Walk into any Walmart, grocery store, you name it, and take a look at the shelves and the amount of product packaging that’s plastic garbage the second you get it home.
The cardboard is just as good at storing your not in use fly lines IMHO.
My only problem with the cardboard rio spool is that it splits in half too much while spooling line off or on, leading to a big tangle of line.
Now, I glue the the two cardboard halves together. Otherwise, I don’t miss the plastic spools.
