Aquariums: My new 34l (7.4 gallon) tank – i’m planning on getting 6 shrimp and a few snails. Is there room for a few fish?

I’d say double up on the shrimp that’s going to look sick with Shrimp all over it. I usually tell people no fish in under 10 gallons.

Could easily put 4-5 neon tetras in there plus the shrimp and snails IMO. I think with the live plants you’re growing a little more nitrate from a few fish would actually be a good thing.

I have a similar sized cube that has 6 CPD and 6 Pgymy Cory in it with a handful of shrimp as a cleaning crew. Got a in-tank filter on it and haven’t had any issues with parameters. Had it for over a year, but it’s definitely heavily planted.

I think, if you commit to keeping the water quality high, you could add a few small fish. Maybe a betta or a couple guppies?
All shrimp would be cool, too.

More shrimp, some tetras, or guppies, maybe corydoras.

Long finned betta. They don’t always eat shrimp. They definitely are more likely to if the shrimp are added after the fish but I’ve heard that when added after shrimp they are more likely to accept the shrimp as decor, not snacks being offered

Bit small for fish but you could get a couple different shrimp types for variety.

7.4 gallons is definitely enough for a few small fish. Would look awesome with ember tetras or endlers

You can do fish. Just stick to nano species that stay under an inch like chili Rasboras or Celestial Pearl Danios. 6 is fine in that tank.
