Hi all, new pleco owner here as of literally 3pm. Went into my LFS to get a 2 inch bristle nose or similar, specifically not a common because I only have a 20G tall and don’t plan on upgrading anytime soon. Got back into the house and realized this guy is in fact a common and not the bristle nose I had pointed out. I’ve done my research as well as cycled my tank but all for a pleco who’s not going to get any bigger. I’m worried he’s gonna struggle. Any tips, suggestions, or care advice appreciated
20 gallon tall
Ammonia 0
Nitrates 10ppm
Nitrites 0
Note: I understand my betta is experiencing bad fin rot. We’re treating it

Just run it back to the store. A common pleco is not what you wanted, you shouldn’t have to keep it.
Return it, they gave you the wrong thing
take it back.
Return to sender
return, should not be adding new animals while treating a sick one
You should be stressing out. That guy will reach over a foot. There’s no way this will work in the long run.
If you cannot return it, then consider finding another more suitable home for it.
Return him, but please wait until your betta is better before adding anything else to the tank. Just smart practice
If the store is genuine and wants return customers then they’ll apologise when you return it and give you the correct one. If they don’t then go to a different shop and ask them to take it off of your hands and purchase one there.
You have a few options. Dont stress.
1) bring it back and exchange accordingly.
2) keep it and upgrade your tank options when feasible.
3) join a fish swap on FB or similar and work to rehome him.
