This is my local Petsmart! They still the cups, but even the cups changed? They’re slightly larger cups now and I see them getting water changed twice a week here! This is a 5 gallon Witt’s single male betta within, a great example for people who go in to buy bettas impulsively! I’m proud of them, it’s a great start. The second pic is the best I could do to show the betta lol. He was pretty active around the tank before I pulled my phone out!

Love it!
Noticed this at mine too. They have a beautiful Samurai male in a 10 gallon TopFin kit, and it’s gorgeous and planted. The fish seems great. I’m happy to see them setting good examples and expectations.
Now they all just need a chart that shows and explains the nitrogen cycle!
I was at my local petsmart there were NO bettas in cups just 1 male in the planted tank on a cart displaying the ideal tank environment i was stunned and so happy seeing it
I saw this at mine, too! They had a cute little setup and the betta was for sale. Loved it!
The PetSmart I got mine from does water changes every other day. I asked because I wanted to know what I was getting myself into. While overall policy on some things may take a while to change, it seems like they’re at least starting to hire people who actually care and are doing what they can with what they’ve got.
