Tank is fairly new (3 and a half weeks). 20 long. Fully cycled. I have red root floaters coming in today, salvinia, and various plants. It is currently stocked with a small shrimp colony, 8 rummy nose tetras, 6 panda corys and 2 nerite snails. Filter is a fluval ac50 and I have a double stack sponge filter as well.
I am hoping to add a single spotlight fish to round it out. I have always had betta, and love their personalities, so I was thinking maybe a Gourami? There are so many conflicting reports of aggression, and whether they are ok alone or need to be in pairs.
Looking for any advice or suggestions, doesnt have to be a gourami. Just something with a bit of personality and not a huge bioload. Thanks!

Love your tank!
I’ve a similar sized tank and have decided to go with either honey or sparkling gourami.
I wanted dwarf gourami first but was told that they can be quite aggressive, supposedly the honey and sparkling ones are peaceful and do well both alone and in pairs.
Unfortunately I currently have a sick fishy and since it’s contagious I don’t want to add anything to the tank he came from until I’m sure no other fish are carrying disease.
Not to mention sick fishy is using hospital tank that I’d want to use for new fish.
Anyway, I’m rambling, hope the gourami bit was useful and I wish you luck!
Don’t sleep on Opaline Gourami. Magnificent blue / black stripes and very active / present in the tank.
