Fantastic episode!
Jason’s customer service is top notch. Forgot to bring my fish one swap. Offered a refund but agreed to keep it another month and bring to the next swap. And gave me some northfin food for my troubles. I only wish he was still selling fish. I vowed to only buy primetime fish. He may be the reason I get out of the hobby. 😂
Species: There are three species often called Rummy Nose: Petitella rhodostoma (true), Petitella bleheri (Brilliant), and Petitella georgiae . Which species is John mentioning ?
I,m looking forward to swap in the Quad cities when I get my other tanks ready for fish .I,LL be looking live-bearers and Rose line Sharks.
The Professor spoke on canister filter. So you don't use ceramic rings or any other bio? Just pads and floss?
I have been trying with the idea of keeping about 40-50 ember tetra in a 4ft tank with a dwarf gourami. I feel strongly that they would look really good together.
💜💜💜💜💜
You should get a Flowerhorn. Sorry to hear about your Oscar. Raleigh got all of a half inch of snow
Would love to hear about stocking ideas for different shape tanks. . Namely the oddball ones, cube, cylinder, etc
I'm doing this on the super cheap and finally have my perfect combo: Gold angelfish with blue orange and dalmatian platys. They go so well with my peppered corys and my terracotta pot anubias/javafern scape.
For clearer water throw in a wave maker and gravel vac when you can, it’s as simple as that
I love bichirs. My small species bichir community tank has a mix of two each of senegals, delhezi, and tuegelsi. They live with two severums (green and red spot) and a gold nigrita. A tank of lazy fish that love to eat.
Oscars and medium sized bichirs are another great choice. I have them in the 200. Two oscars (lemon and bumblebee) and a weeksi currently with an ornate and endlicheri being grown out. It will be a tad crowded in the end, but easily manageable.
When are we getting an episode about north and South American cichlids
Sterbai do well with discus. They tolerate the high temps really good 👍🏽
You guys great video. I have to say you can keep 12 or more discus and cardinals etc in a 55g when you have a barrel system which will give you over 120g of water. Maybe you should mentioned this. No need to buy a 120 g tank if you have this barrel systems set up.
Newbie here, normally love the podcast, this one, the whole beginning you guys were naming off all those fish and I have no clue on the names and what they look like. When you guys talk about fish can you put up pictures so we know what you’re talking about. Would help a ton and be very educational. Thanks.
Great episode as always. My favorite combo that I’m keeping is angels with Congo tetras. I also have some harlequin rasboras with a dwarf gourami that I’m really liking also.
How do you know if the fish have disease or normal fish death?
As a plumber I love water and as a fish keeper I love fish as a plumbing fish keeper I love tank talk podcast… hit like and subscribe it’s free yee yee thxs for keeping me sane and my fish happy guys y’all are the best😊
I will be going to the fish swap in Davenport Sunday. Itll be my first one. I dont anticipate coming home with anything, but I do love to see the many varieties of fish. I dont currently have an aquarium in operation, but over the years have had several from the old hexagon 1 gal all the way up to a 75 gal. I do love the hobby and would love to get back into it again eventually, but things aren't conducive right now for me to have any set ups. I do watch both you guys' streams when I can in the hopes of gaining suggestions and knowledge to help prepare me even more for when I do become active with tanks again. I appreciate you both for the education and experiences you both provide.
Two dozen cardinals, two dozen rummies, six panda cories, 3 pearl gouramis, 6 ottos, 12 amanos and 5 denison barbs in a planted 75. Lots of color, activity and no drama.
Love the episodes with viewer input. Can you guys do an episode or series of episodes on South, central, and north(?) American cichlids?
As far as adding another fish in with discus and cardinal tetras I’m going to steal the wonders of wildlife approach and add bolivian rams and corydoras
Hi! Thanks for all you do! I have two questions, please. Firstly, I have to move my Jewel Lido 110 litre aquarium and stand unit to another position in my daughter's bedroom. I have about 20 community fish and coolie loaches and snails…Is it safe to just bring the water down low, and to then carry everything across to the other side, simple as that? The 2nd question is a sad one, but no one ever really talks about it. What should one do or not do when a fish passes away? Bigger ones, bury, obviously, but what about the smaller community ones? Thanks, Mandy ❤
Love listening to you guys when I’m pooping
Pearl gouramis/ snakeskin barbs/ red tail loaches
What do I need to know about Quarantine tanks? Substrate? Filtration? Size? Medications? What do I do with the tank when not quarantining? If used for medical purposes, do I need to clean it out good before re-using?
Have you all ever had any fish or critters you’ve put in your tank and thought got eaten/died but showed up months later? I bought 3 baby amano shrimp over a year ago, put them in and never saw them again. Then I’m finishing up my water change this week and I see a full grown amano chomping on some biofilm. Crazy how resilient some of these creatures are.
Snakeskin barbs, HarleyQuinn, Rasbora, pearl Gourami, and panda Gara is probably my favorite combo I currently have. They all have similar colors, but their patterns are distinct enough. They are all very peaceful and it’s a correct biotype. Get a 55 or larger planted tank and you’re good to go
