All righty. so the reason I'm looking at an ugly stick elite is because I do a lot of bank fishing and my favorite fishing spot is a lookout and i lean my rods on metal guard rails (while I catfish, caught a 25lb flathead my first month fishing last year) and i want it to be for moving baits. I'm worried about paying a lot for a high-end rod and just end up getting micro cracks on it from the guard rails. Then if not the daiwa BG MQ for ugly stick matching durability what spinning reel would be durable for bass fishing moving baits. my buddy and I like walking and throwing spinnerbaits and Whopper ploppers! thanks for the help

Be careful with any Daiwa MQ they’re a monocoque (MQ) body and basically have to be serviced by Daiwa or an authorized center with a special tool. Shouldn’t be too big of an issue in fresh water. Personally I’d go with something cheaper and just replace it if it ever breaks. As for a rod, get a Dobyns. Any model I believe above the maverick or colt has a replacement warranty if it breaks for a fee, look up their warranty if it suits your needs
Ugly sticks are tough as hell. You’d be fine getting a regular ugly stick spinning combo, and you could put the other ~230 into something else.
You could get a way nicer rod and a great reel for under $200.
Go with a Fuego over a BG MQ.
There’s no reason to spend that much on a reel if you’re just putting on an Ugly Stik.
My rule of thumb for rod and reel purchases are to always spend 2-3 times more on the rod than the reel.
