I stumbled the other day on a tragic post – one of us had lost their Betta to jumping out of the water.
I had planned to keep the tank open, mostly for aesthetic reasons. The Betta I chose (not in the tank yet) wasn't a jumper, I had floater plants and planned on adding hydroponics, so I felt save in that decision.
Until I read the post and the comments. I immediately understood that open tank is not an option if I want to keep my Betta save.
Got the lid the next day.
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences – it has taught this noob better and has made a safer environment for a future Betta.
Best wishes & stay safe!

So glad you did this! It’s such an easy way to prevent an unnecessary death.
Where did you get the lid
Its also great for the water too in that it reduces evaporation and mineral buildup.
On the other hand, I have never lost a fish to jumping.
