Line wet at 0635, casts 2, 3, and 4 were met with missed bites. A few more of these and I stopped, took out my leatherman and sharpened the hooks. Next cast, fish landed. Short bites resumed, which made me switch to a new lure. Not sure it helped, though the new hooks were sharper than my DIY job. Many short bites and misses, then a few big slabs showed up. One was a badly hooked pregnant female that released several young. Mom was released first, then I went back for the flopping babies, scooped em up and returned them to the sea. Mom was a bit groggy and I hope she made it. Makes me consider replacing the kastmaster treble with a single hook. No photos of Mom or babies, I was stressed, as was the fish. Two of my largest fish this season in this session. Wrapped up by 0900. Five fish total.
