hi, i saw a video building a stand like this but with 2 15 gallons and without a storage area. Was wondering if this is feasible? of course, i'll be sure theres room for maintenance. Let me know if you think this is possible

So this is sometimes done, but be aware that it is a huge pain to not be able to reach in from above to use a net, a cleaning siphon, etc. Also consider that if you’re using canister filters, you’ll exceed the allowed vertical lift for the upper and maybe middle tank if you intend to use the lower cabinet to block/house components like filters, power supplies, etc.

Edit: I notice now the top tank is a terrarium.
Edit 2: if you’re planning it out, consider that you can also design in a dark backdrop to make the tanks stand out more nicely, and to hide the appearance of cables and tubing.

  2. I would start with a store bought rack setup then see if you like it. Bunk-tanks have several new headaches to explore, namely ensuring you have space to clean, water change, prune, etc. i found this out the hard way on my first rack setup and fixed it when i moved.

If you do like the rack setup, then you can take the time and energy to build a custom one. This is my (old)bedroom setup, the new one is the same rack with the shelves set differently so I can better access the 40g on the bottom. Ill build a custom one eventually.
