I’ve been fishing about five times now at my local lake 😂 they have motor boat rentals and I’m hoping to try renting one next time. This is what they look like. I’m usually solo.
Never driven or even been on one before. Any tips?

Don’t go alone.
Wear a life jacket.
Get a map/depth chart map for your phone.
Study up on the basic rules of boating safety (and etiquette).
I’ve rented boats for fishing in the past. The main thing I’d suggest is that since these don’t have sonar, don’t motor out to the middle of the lake and try to fish unless you know the exact location of a hole or other underwater feature. Instead, follow the shoreline and use your mobility to access areas that you can’t from shore.
Another thing is that since your time is limited, either set out with your rods rigged up, or use pre-tied rigs so that you can spend more time fishing rather than rigging.
Those are trolling motors. Max speed will be 3.5mph. You will be just fine.
Is that lake poway?
Take a boater safety course
Find out how long the battery lasts on a full charge. If it’s 4 hrs total, remember to turn around after 2 hrs. Never assume you have a full charge.
Also, bring bug spray. First time I did this, I was in the middle of the lake getting eaten alive and had to motor around (very slowly) to random people until someone had some lol
