After a tumultuous hour, my husband and I were finally able to extricate the ropefish from his horrible siphon captor. Big shout out to Python for making a genuinely quality product. it didn't help my particular situation but i can personally attest to how well made their stuff is based on how long it took to cut through the hose and the connections lol.

I know we aren't out of the woods yet but I feel better knowing he isn't trapped anymore. thanks to everyone for the support.

  1. Saw your post earlier, glad it turned out okay! Hopefully the fish makes a full recovery!

This is great. I saw it earlier as well and felt so sad for the poor booger. Best of luck, dude!!

  3. You’re going to want to have the rope fish in a medical tank with 1%-1.5% aquarium salt. It helps speed up healing.

I hope he pulls through. It’s happened to me. Even being careful it can happen. There is a lot of suction power in those python siphons if it’s the one you attach to a faucet. You can feel it covering the end with your hand. Imagine being a small fish and having to endure that with your body.
