My betta – Scarlet. She lived with me for 6 months. The nicest and calmest betta I’ve ever seen. She developed dropsy about 2 weeks ago. I treated her, she was very swollen and pine-coned. I didn’t think she would make it but after 4 days of treatment she looked backed to normal. I put her back into the tank. She was fine, looked beautiful. Yesterday I changed the water (20%) checked the parameters before and after and they were all normal. This morning I woke up to her swimming upside down. It was a swim bladder I immediately started treated her but she died soon after. I am heartbroken. I can’t help but feel like it’s my fault as leading up to her dropsy I had a nitrite problem for about a week where I couldn’t get it lower than 1. And I believe that’s what made her sick. I also never was able to successfully treat a swim bladder in any of my fish before.
I guess the point of my post is to just share my grief. I really like her. She was my first and probably last betta.
P.S took these pictures yesterday

I’m sorry to hear that. Sounds like you did everything you could, the sad thing is betta genes are not the strongest.
