Ive been on a few camping trips with the fly rod and gone home empty handed. I went up to the Victorian high country in Australia to camp for a week recently with the family and was hoping to change that.
I tried to put everything i had read into practice on the last fish of the trip, saw a rise and cast out to it. Gave the fly one little twitch and saw a trout take it. Counted to 3, lifted the rod and was on!
Landed it on the second pass and was just laughing, so satisfying to finally catch one.

Congrats mate. I went on a trip up to the snowy mountains from Victoria a couple weeks ago and caught a similar size brown for my first on the fly. No better feeling 🫡
