I remade this post with better picture. Today we picked up this absolute unit of a betta. Our local fish store said he was a surrender and have had him a few weeks and he is perfectly healthy. He’s at least 2x the size of any betta I’ve ever seen if not bigger. He isn’t having any issues swimming or eating so far. Just a curious why he’s built like a bag of Potatos.

  1. Currently we are calling The Monster but are open for name suggestions lol. I wish I could get a picture of him next to a shrimp or my hand to explain the sheer size of him.

IDK anything I’m just commenting so I can learn more about this unit later.

  3. If he’s got a spinal deformity, there’s likely other stuff going on in there that makes him chunk shaped. Maybe his ribs are deformed, could be a messed up muscle wall, or maybe some internal organs are oversized. If he’s doing fine I’d just make sure to try and never overfeed him, as bloating would probably be worse for him than a standard betta.

Fat and deformed. Kinda look a balloon molly. Could cause health issues but if he eats and does all the betta things hes vibin. Just never let homie have kids
